Ray Mueller

Raymond Mueller (Ray) is an artist who has retired from the electrical engineering field and enjoys villa-living in Washington, Missouri with his wife. He has two grown sons and three delightful granddaughters. Ray has had a life-long interest in art and has created artwork in acrylic and pastel media before changing his preferred medium to oil. His subject matter includes still life, landscape, portraits, history, astronomy and anything that is pleasant to the eye. He has completed over 150 paintings as of this update and displays his artwork in St. Peters, St. Louis, Wentzville, Union and Washington, MO galleries. When not painting, Ray divides his time working with civic organizations in the education of astronomy, electricity and electromagnetism. He and his wife travel when possible and record the locations visited through photography, which provides the basis for much of his artwork. Ray and his wife are also involved in their church and are active seniors in their community.

Painting a picture is my escape mechanism. While I’m painting a picture, I lose myself in the process. I try to reproduce on canvas what I see in nature. Photography can reproduce a scene for me, but a painting offers a 3rd dimension in depth on the canvas and sometimes a 4th dimension in emotion.
