First Place: Jason Manhart-Cicada
This piece made wonderful use of color and light to show the fine details of the structure of the cicada. One can see all of the fine sutures on the body and details of the wing venation.
Second Place: Fatemeh Nichols-Butterfly Convention
The colors are very vibrant in this piece and it really captures the motion of the butterflies.
Third Place: Jess Manasco-Swallowtail on Lilacs
The color and precision of the wing coloration really stood out in this piece.

Excellent use of light and color to represent fireflies starting to flash their signals at sunset.
